Abstract

Inelastic electron tunneling in a tunnel junction may be used as an electrical nanosource of surface plasmon polaritons and photons. In this work, we investigate emission from tunnel contact between the tungsten tip with Au coating and a thin Au film on glass. The experiment has shown that intensity of this emission dramatically depends on Au surface properties.
