Abstract

The authors report here data on the medical problems experienced by runners preparing for a marathon, the medical sequelae of participating, the demands for medical care these create, and their effects on the ability to work and fulfil other social functions. The data were obtained from a sample of the 4559 entrants for the Sheffield marathon held in June 1982.
