Abstract

A scientific and technical cooperation project between Germany and Cuba during a period of two years was carried out. This project involved the evaluation of different secondary protection systems of coatings on two representative structures in Havana. The main objective is to determine whether European protection systems can be use in Cuba and it they would increase the durability of structures exposed to corrosive aggressivity conditions between high and extreme. The results showed that secondary protection systems applied were satisfactory obtaining a high efficacy taking account the behavior of the hardness and adhesion determined during two years of study.
