Abstract
The unforeseen COVID-19 pandemic had drastically changed everyone's life. The sudden shift to distance learning during the pandemic had significant implications for educational stakeholders. Many existing studies focus on the characteristics of forced distance learning for elementary and higher education. However, as school reopening has been applied worldwide nowadays, the impact of the educational experience gained during the outbreak on its potential long-term effects in the post-pandemic era is not well studied. To this end, this paper leverages a survey-based approach to investigate these changes and their potential issues and opportunities in the post-pandemic education era. The definitions of key terms are first provided. The attributes of distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic are next reviewed. Changes in education when schools reopened after the pandemic are then described. Gaps in the current research are finally discussed.
