Abstract

E objective with this narrative review of the literature is to understand the background and theoretical aspects accounting for the relationship between women in the pregnancy, labor and postpartum period and the health services based on their social class. is relation will be dened according to the following four items: social class and women; access of women to the health services; health care practices performed under the institutional service; and relation between women and the health-working personnel. e results showed the following needs in public health: to develop theoretical models of access to the health services based on the right to health (understood as a fundamental right); to consider aspects related to the quality in the provision of health care; and to develop researches under critical reective perspectives related to the four items described above.
