Abstract

This review brings together the versatility of enamine intermediates and multicomponent reactions that have been coalesced to generate a diverse library of nitrogen containing heterocyclic compounds. The reactions and mechanistic pathways enumerated cover a wide range of aza-heterocycles like pyrroles, pyridines, triazoles, indoles and aza-spiro heterocycles that can be synthesized through in situ generated enamines as intermediates in multi component condensations.
