"Brazilian workers!:" The commemorations of the first of may during vargas' Estado Novo

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the celebrations of the First of May during Vargas' Estado Novo. It is intended to identify changes and permanencies in its commemorative rituals, as well as the strategies used by the government for the preparation, presentation and legitimation of these commemorations.
