Abstract

A bee with an exceptional head and mandibles, belonging to the Halictini (Hymenoptera, Halictidae). A new genus and new species-Gnalhalicllls capilallls-is proposed for a small brassycoloured bee with a ve,y large ter111itomorphic head, larger than meSOS0111a, with an enor1110US yellow 111andibles attenuated and twisted distally, armed with a very large preapical tooth before medium on upper lateral border; a vau I ted clypeus prolonged 111edially in a large semicircular projection after the underneath labral articulation and nalTowly lalerad to the malar areas; genae broadly rectangularly dilatated. Alar venation, legs and metasol11al terga and sterna normal.
