Abstract
Interferons are known since 1957, which means for the last 34 years. This review intends to condense what have been written in 150 references and it is directed to students and general clinicians. It is amazing how much has been learned about these family of proteins totally unknown three decades ago. It must be emphasized that the explosive amount of information results from the technic recombinant DNA that offered now limited for research due to the small quantities of product obtained by regular biological means. Studies on pharmacodynamics and kinetics have been possible showing that plasmate half life is about 5 hours and excretion is predominantly renal.
