Abstract
The C-MAX home industry is an industry that produces cast aluminum from the production process, which produces dust in workplace. This study aims to analyze the health risks of dust exposure on lung function in workers in the C-MAX home industry. This research is a quantitative study, using a cross-sectional study design. Measuring dust levels using a Low Volume Air Sampler (LVAS). Examination of lung function capacity using a spirometer. The population in the study amounted to 55 people, in the Casting Division and in the Finishing Division. The sample used was 36 people, with 20 people in the casting section and 16 people in the finishing section. The results in this study are the measurement of the average dust content, still below the Standard Threshold Value (NAB), with the total dust TLV in accordance with Permenaker No. 05 of 2018 about K3 Lingkungan Kerja, namely 10 mg/m 3. The results of the spirometry examination regarding lung function on the respondents were 36, that 26 workers were normal lung function examination results and 10 workers had lung function disorders, with 7 workers in the casting unit and 3 workers in the finishing unit. Workers who are exposed to dust continuously every day, for 8 hours of work will have potential health risks to breathing due to the dust that accumulates into the inhalation tract, so that their productivity will be impaired. Lung function disorders are not only influenced by dust levels in the workplace, but there are other influencing factors such as smoking or other habits.
