Cidades médias brasileiras e sua convergência de crescimento e desenvolvimento socioeconômico

Abstract

Resumo Esse artigo analisa a convergência de crescimento e desenvolvimento econômico das cidades médias brasileiras em 2005 e 2017. No processo de convergência, as cidades tendem a afluir para o mesmo nível de renda e padrões de vida, o que implica num processo que pode ser positivo ou negativo. A metodologia utilizada foi a das médias de convergência utilizando o Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) per capita total e setorial e os dados do Índice FIRJAN de Desenvolvimento Municipal (IFDM). Os resultados apontaram que o setor econômico com maior convergência foi o setor terciário. Já o setor em que houve a maior divergência foi o da agropecuária. Na área do desenvolvimento socioeconômico, a maior convergência entre as cidades médias foi a dimensão saúde. Já as dimensões emprego, renda e educação seguiram divergentes.Abstract This article analyzes the convergence of economic growth and development of medium-sized Brazilian cities between 2005 and 2017. In the convergence process, cities tend to flock to the same level of income and living standards, which implies a process that can be positive or negative. The methodology used was the one with convergence averages using the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita total and sector and data from the FIRJAN Municipal Development Index (IFDM). The results showed that the economic sector with the greatest convergence was the tertiary sector. The sector in which there was the greatest divergence was agriculture. In the area of socioeconomic development, the greatest convergence among medium-sized cities was the health dimension. The employment, income and education dimensions are still divergent.
