Abstract

Background: Interface SDN network with Optical network to enhance the capability of current optical network capability to achieve high data rate support to fulfilled 5G and Internet of things (IoT) backbone capacity requirement. Methods: We use the proposed SDON design architecture based on Software defined networking and do the performance analysis so that proposed work can provide the backbone for current 5G and IoT network to support high data rate support. Results and conclusion: A comparative analysis of results obtained in two different designs one consisting of the DWDM system and the other consists of programmable optical switches (ROADM) merged in the packet switched domain of SDN. This paper proves how SDN leads to significant improvement in the performance of the existing optical or any other Ethernet network. The flexibility of the SDON network is send the packets to the particular destination address is transmitted while the other value is either dropped or sent to the SDN controller for rerouting through a new path where flow entry is fed to the switch later.
