Abstract

The subspecies Psallus betuleti montanus Josifov, 1973 is raised to species rank (Psallus montanus Josifov, 1973 stat. n.). Psallus montanus is distributed in eastern North America and Europe. Psallus betuleti apparently is a Holarctic species occurring across northern North America, northern western Europe and eastern Siberia. Coloration, male vesica and sclerotized rings in the bursa copulatrix of females provide discriminating characters, which are illustrated.
