Abstract

We synthesized a series of pyrazolines from chalcones of indane-1,3-dione.In turn chalcones were prepared by reacting 2- acetyl indane-1,3-dione with different aromatic aldehydes in the presence of ethanolic sodium hydroxide (previously reported by us).The new pyrazoline derivatives were synthesized by condensation of chalcones of indane-1,3-dione with hydrazine hydrochloride in basic medium viz. pyridine in the presence of ethanol. The newly synthesized compounds (6a-f) have been characterized by IR (Infra red) Spectroscopy and 1HNMR (Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Spectroscopy and TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography). These new compounds have been evaluated for their antibacterial, antifungal and antitubercular activities.
