Abstract
Electronic absorption spectroscopy was applied for studying the reaction of uranium(IV) chloride with oxygen in alkali chloride based melts. The experiments were performed at 450-750 °C in the melts based on LiCl-KCl, NaCl- CsCl and NaCl-KCl-CsCl eutectic mixtures. Effect of diluting oxygen with an inert gas and presence of water vapor on the oxidation reaction was also considered.
