Abstract
Drug delivery is the process of dispensing medicated drug molecules to achieve a beneficial effect in humans and animals. For the treatment of various human disorders, nasal and respiratory routes of drug delivery systems (DDS) are achieving popularity. These routes are used in place of intravenous, intramuscular (IM), subcutaneous drug delivery, especially for polypeptide and protein medication. For this study, different types of targeted delivery systems are formulated and being analyzed for nasal route and pulmonary route of drug delivery. This route comprises different drug delivery formulations such as proliposomes, liposomes, microspheres, gels, among other delivery systems. Nanoparticles containing natural and artificial polymers show affirmation of the strict essential conditions placed on different delivery systems, likely capability to be transmitted into an aerosol, stability against different types of forces created during the aerosolization process, biocompatibility, different sites or particular cell targeting, tissues in the lung, drug release in a fixed way, and destruction within a suitable period of time interval.
