Abstract
Nowadays learners demand more flexible, active, and participatory teaching proposals, which are adapted to their needs and encourage collaborative learning and the development of different skills and abilities. Students assume the responsibility of their learning, reflecting about their cognitive processes and developing high-order abilities in the process of collaborative learning. In this context, the objective of the research is to know Salamanca University students’ perceptions about the benefits and disadvantages of collaborative learning methodology according to their experience. Based on this purpose, it is employed a quantitative and qualitative approach, administering a questionnaire to a sample of 137 students. The results obtained show a positive assessment of this methodology. The learners highlight that they have learned to share knowledge, to have greater autonomy and control over the task, to be tolerant and respectful to others, and to solve conflicts and problems. However, they also emphasize some disadvantages related to the involvement of some team members and to the effort and additional dedication to the academic tasks that this methodology means.
