Abstract
In this review article the early events in cell animal virus interactions are represented in 11 paragraphs. The most important are: (1) interpretation of EM images and the problem of artifacts, (2) fusion, lysis and repair of cellular membranes, (3) attachment, (4) mechanisms for internalization of the inoculum, (5) activities of virion associated enzymes and their effect on the host and (6) vectorial movement of the inoculum to sites of genome replication.
