Analytical calculation of the wake potential of a spherical resonator

Abstract

An analytical formula for the wake potential of a closed spherical resonator with perfectly conducting walls is presented. Mode analysis is used for the calculation. For every rotationally symmetric TM mode the loss parameter is calculated and the formula for the determination of the corresponding frequency is given. The final wake potential is an infinite sum over all modes mentioned above. © 2002 The American Physical Society.
