Abstract

This study aims to analyze the production and income of seaweed farmers. To analyze the marketing margins of seaweed and to analyze the efficiency of seaweed marketing channels.The study was conducted in Munte Village, Tana Lili Subdistrict, North Luwu Regency, the study took place from October to November 2018. The population in this study were all seaweed farmers, amounting to 35 people. Determination of the sample by census is the total number of seaweed farmers totaling 35 people. Determination of merchant samples is determined by the snowball sampling method.The data analysis used is descriptive analysis, production and income analysis, feasibility analysis and marketing analysis. Descriptive analysis to describe the condition of the respondent's identity. Production analysis to analyze seaweed production and the income of seaweed farmers. While marketing analysis to analyze marketing channels, marketing margins and marketing efficiency.The results showed that annual seaweed production in the five harvest seasons was 4,155.71 kg and the income of seaweed farmers was Rp. 83,114,200 /year. High category production and income.The seaweed marketing margin, from farmers to middlemen, is Rp. 3,000/kg of production. Whereas the marketing margin from the collectors to wholesalers is Rp. 4,000/kg of production. Marketing margins are included in the category of large margin values.The marketing channel for seaweed collectors has an efficiency value of 89.20%, while wholesalers value marketing efficiency of 88.40%. Channels of seaweed marketing are not efficient because the efficient value is between > 50%. This is because marketing costs are almost as large as the marketing value received.
