Abstract

(Figure Presented) Polymerization - a single molecule view: Molecular motion of free and incorporated single perylene diimide derivatives during radical polymerization of styrene and styrene networks, studied by a combination of fluorescence correlation spectroscopy and wide-field microscopy, can be observed over the entire conversion range from free diffusion to immobilization of the dyes. In particular, the presence of evolving heterogeneities could be visualized. © 2008 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
