Abstract
This article highlights the results from the University of Nottingham's 200-head indoor dairy herd. The herd had a positive bulk milk tank test but only 25% seroprevalence for Schmallenberg virus (SBV). In contrast, seroprevalence in another herd, housed outdoors during the summer, six miles from the University herd had 76% seroprevalence (13/17). This incidence will help veterinarians and farm managers in implementing a cost effective vaccination programme versus Schmallenberg virus.
