Abstract
This paper presents a study that describes the design and implementation of a multi-touch tabletop system inexpensive that encourages and facilitates the evaluation of collaborative work in a classroom. Functionality and usability tests were performed to validate and verify the system. Additionally, two experiments were conducted to know how the perception of teacher and students is affected by using this technology. The aspects considered in teacher were: workload equality; easiness of grading individuals as well as groups. The aspects considered in students were: workload equality; capability of tools to accurately reflect individual contributions; satisfaction with individual and group score. According to the results, the use of this technology has a positive impact on the perception of teachers and students; teachers reported that the system facilitates the evaluation of the collaborative work done by students; on the other hand, students report that such tools help them to accurately reflect their contributions in collaborative work.
