Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a scale to determine professional engagement of the teachers. The study was conducted with 329 novice teachers. Research data was obtained from five point Likert type scale with 26 items. As a result of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), it was found that the scale has three factors with 20 items and explains 58.278% of the total variance. Cronbach Alpha values aimed at determining reliability of the scale was found as 0.92 for the first factor, 0.86 for second factor, 0.70 for third factor and 0.90 for total scale. It was concluded that the scale is a valid and reliable tool for determining professional engagement of the teachers.Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file. ÖzetBu çalışmanın amacı, öğretmenlerin öğretmenlik mesleğine adanmışlıklarını belirlemeye yönelik bir ölçek geliştirmektir. Araştırma, 329 aday öğretmenle yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın verileri, 26 maddelik beşli Likert tipi ölçekten elde edilmiştir. Yapılan Açımlayıcı Faktör Analizi (AFA) sonucunda, ölçeğin 20 maddelik üç faktörlü (boyut) bir yapıya sahip olduğu ve toplam varyansın %58.278'ini açıkladığı ortaya çıkmıştır. Ölçeğin güvenirliğini belirlemek amacıyla hesaplanan Cronbach Alpha değerleri; birinci faktör için 0.92, ikinci faktör için 0.86, üçüncü faktör için 0.70, toplam ölçek için ise 0.90 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ölçeğin, öğretmenlerin öğretmenlik mesleğine adanmışlıklarını belirlemek için geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçek olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
