Abstract

We discuss first the valid time interval of a formula found in the literature which gives the theoretical distance run by a liquid which rises along a capillary tube as a function of time. A non-linear least square fitting of experimental data to this theoretical curve allows the measurement of the kinematic viscosity of the liquid. The goodness of the fitting for three different sets of experimental data given in the literature is above 99%. © The Sociedade Brasileira de Física.
