Abstract

A series of nitrile-supported coordination polymers of cerium bromide (CeBr3) are reported, including adducts of trimethylacetonitrile, benzonitrile, and glutaronitrile. The identities of the compounds are established on the basis of single-crystal X-ray diffraction data, and the compounds are further characterized by elemental analysis and photoluminescence. The photoluminescence spectra of the coordination polymers display considerably redshifted emission compared to the characteristic emission of CeBr3 single crystals. Cerium bromide coordination polymers have been prepared and structurally authenticated on the basis of X-ray diffraction data. The photoluminescence spectra of the polymers feature considerably redshifted emission bands compared to the characteristic emission observed for CeBr 3 single crystals.
