Abstract
In this paper, we analyze the construction of a community of practice. Through a two-year observation and monitoring of a medical network composed of independent dentists, we show the structuring role played by three relational mechanisms. The harmonious development of a community of practice imposes indeed a balance between identity-based, affective and functional relations.
