Abstract

University teachers’ didactic training has become an increasingly important topic in the field of higher education policies and has been widely financially supported by the government-funded national program “Qualitätspakt Lehre” in the last decade. At the same time far too little attention has been paid to the outcomes of these trainings, particularly for the critical success factor of learning transfer and the factors affecting it. This paper presents an instrument assessing the conditions of learning transfer in the field of university teachers’ didactic training for the german-speaking higher education area capturing the dimensions motivation to transfer, self-efficacy, personal transfer capacities, training design, teaching conditions, opportunity to perform, positive consequences, peer support, supervisory support, transfer climate and support of students. Confirmatory factor analyses confirm the construct validity of the instrument, which can be applied for the evaluation of learning transfer conditions in the context of university teachers’ didactic training as well as the enhancement of the current state of research.
