Abstract

The harmful effects of workplace deviance constitute a significant concern on global scale. However, it is alarming the scope has assumed among Nigerian academics. This study aimed to investigate influence perceived union instrumentality and whether industrial relations climate can moderate relationship. drew from exit-voice social exchange theories achieve research objectives. In cross-sectional design, data 211 academics federal polytechnics in Northwestern Nigeria were analysed using Partial least square-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). results indicated that significantly negatively affected deviance. As expected, job satisfaction was found mediate relationship between Similarly, bridges theoretical gaps literature by theory explain employees deviant behaviour. Moreover, exploring mediation mechanism which influences helps close critical knowledge labour behaviour literature. result suggests Government management Nigeria''s higher education institutions need address rising incidence accommodating demands unions fostering harmonious relations. design this fact only used as samples limit findings'' generalizability.
