Abstract

A new faunistic area is reported from the upper courses of the Kou, the Mouhoun (tributaries of the Volta) and the Leraba (tributary of the Comoe). Our knowledge of the caddis fauna of the Western Burkina is synthetized; eight new species are described, they belong to the genera Cheumatopsyche, Ecnomus, Hydroptila, Oxyethira and Ugandatrichia. Though previous studies have shown a great homogeneity of the savannas, we observe here species only known from forest or mountain areas. Probable causes are: a greater altitude, the permanence of flow and the presence of protected forests. © Gauthier-Villars, 1994.
