Abstract

A papillomavirus-like infection in canaries (Serinus canarius) is described. Papillomatous epithelial proliferations were observed at the commissure of the beak and on the head. Histologically, stratified squamous epithelium covered with a hyperkeratotic layer and intranuclear inclusions were observed. Electron microscopically, intranuclear aggregates of papilloma-like virus particles were demonstrated. © 1993, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
