Honouring Prof. Nelson Studart's 70th birthday and his leadership in condensed matter physics and physics teaching in Brazil

Abstract

This article is a modest tribute to Prof. Nelson Studart, associate editor of the Revista Brasileira de Ensino de Física and editor and founder of A Física na Escola, on occasion of his 70th birthday. He worked for 38 years at Federal University of São Carlos, where he retired as a Full Professor. I report a little of his significant production in low-dimensional quantum systems physics and semiconductor heterostructures, area in which he was advisor at doctoral level. His most relevant recent contributions are in Physics Teaching, inside investigation of digital technologies and active methodologies, focusing on games-based learning and gamification processes.
