Abstract
The current review examined the possible relationship between combined addiction to cocaine and alcohol, which is very common nowadays, and the emergence of antisocial and violent behaviors. The differential pharmacodynamics coming from the use of both drugs has as a result the formation of a special methabolite, cocaethylene, with differential properties of those from cocaine and alcohol separately. The existent studies are reviewed with the aim of demonstrating if the interaction alcohol-cocaine facilitates violent behaviors. It is likely that alcohol has a principal role in the origin of these behaviors, but cocaine's influence and the interdependence of both drugs is still unknown. (English) [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
