Abstract

The role of renewable energy is becoming significant in the current scenario due to increasing power demand, instability of fuel prices and economic-environmental glitches. Fuel cell stood as one of the emerging and leading contributors in the realm of renewable energy because of its higher efficacy, cleanliness and economic supply of demanded energy to the consumers. This article gives a brief knowledge on the different types of fuel cell technologies along with their working principles, pros, cons and application of fuel cells in various sectors. It also discusses the techno-economic issues of this current technology. Also briefed about the future recommendations to wide spread this technology for better economic and environmental solutions.
