Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the African perspective in the project General History of Africa (Unesco). It examines the institutional history of the project and the writing of history in this collection of eight volumes. Its purpose is to reflect on the unity and diversity of approaches of this “African perspective”, as well as the historical periodizations that it offers to the history of Africa.
