Abstract

2020 and part of 2021 was hit by Covid 19, restricting the activities of different sectors of the economy, resulting in a severe economic contraction in many countries, including Ecuador. The businesses that could be maintained, had to implement drastic changes helped by technology; Information and communication technologies (ICT) became the key to giving continuity to business activity. The objective of this research is to determine if teleworking helped improve productivity in SMEs in a sector of the city of Guayaquil. It is a quantitative, correlational and cross-sectional research carried out in the post-pandemic period. The results prove the hypothesis that teleworking contributed to the development of the company’s operations and to improve its productivity, which is consistent with other studies carried out inside and outside the country; therefore, it is concluded that teleworking can become a work modality to be implemented in the post-pandemic period, with contribution to sustainable development.
