Abstract

In order to detect the diameter of wool and cashmere fiber under microscope, an algorithm based on similar triangle theory to measure the distance between two irregular curves is proposed in this paper. After selecting the fiber area to be tested manually, the average, maximum and minimum diameter of the fiber can be obtained by using this algorithm. The method was used to detect the diameter of wool and cashmere fiber under the microscope, and the appropriate fitting parameters were selected by experiment. The algorithm can also be used to measure the diameter of other kinds of textile materials as well as blood vessels in medical images.
