Abstract

Business model innovation leads to the high performance of the growth-stage enterprises that needs to meet certain conditions. The sole implementation of novel nor efficient BMI cannot bring high performance to the growth-stage enterprises. From the perspective of ‘environment-strategy’ synergy, this research studies how the synergistic mechanism of environmental factors and BMI affects the growth-stage enterprise performance via QCA method. The research results show that: (1) When the competitive pressure is not obvious, transaction innovation-oriented BMI will lead to high performance; (2) No matter what the external environment is, BMI jointly oriented by transaction innovation and transaction optimisation can lead to high performance; (3) Growth-stage enterprises in Schumpeter Competition Zone generally have high performance. The conclusion of this paper enriches the theory on the synergy of environmental factors and BMI affects enterprise performance, and can provide guidance for the growth-stage enterprises using BMI to enhance performance.
