Abstract

We discuss the use of the USD, USDA and USDB Hamiltonians for calculating rapid-proton capture rates for the sd-shell nuclei. The isobaric-mass-multiplet equation is used to make associations between the levels in the proton-rich nuclei of interest and those in the nuclei with N ≥ Z. The theoretical uncertainties associated with the calculated spectroscopic factors and gamma-decay widths are discussed. Results are shown for the 25Al(p, γ)26Si resonance-capture rate.
