Abstract
Children, especially neonates and smaller children, differ from adults in their anatomy, physiology, psychology, and pharmacology, and their anaesthetic management is similarly different. Pediatric anaesthesia practice continues to evolve worldwide, and we detail some recent changes in this chapter. Some of these new methods and approaches are made possible by new technology and medications, while others are just new ways of approaching the patient based on our evolving understanding of pediatric physiology and pharmacology.
