Abstract

In November 2000, a paramilitary group attacked Nueva Venecia, a remote population living in the Cienaga Grande de Santa Marta, Colombia. This paper argues that, despite the many legal instruments concerning the rights of victims and transitional justice, the Colombian State has failed to repair and restore the dignity of the population being considered. From a field study and a description of the role of the state considered in this particular work, it is clear which instruments have been implemented and what results could have been obtained.
