Abstract
This work analyzed the demand by wood briquettes made from ECO industry. The objective was to identify and estimate the elasticity of the main variables that affect this demand. Monthly series were used from July 2003 through June 2006 and the estimative were obtained using Generalized Least Squares - GLS. The briquette demand can be explained by the income and the oil price. The results indicated the difficulty of finding a relationship between price and quantity and at the same time showed an income inelasticity and an oil elastic. The results indicated that an oil crisis can be a significant competitive advantage for producers of wood briquettes and in relation to income; the effect was negligible, suggesting that a growth or an economic crisis will not cause major impact on demand briquette.
