Abstract

Recreation and play activities are crucial not only in the rehabilitation of the pediatric spinal-cord-injured (SCI) population, but also for their overall life satisfaction. The following article will discuss recreation involvement with the adult SCI population and consider possible theoretical similarities and differences between the adult and pediatric SCI population. Developmental levels of pediatrics are reviewed with implications for recreation and play activities. Future research areas are suggested for the sparsely studied area of recreation and children with SCIs.
