Arborillus llimonae nov. gen. et sp., a synnematous lichenicolous hyphomycete

Abstract

Arborillus llimonae, described as a new synnematous hyphomycetous genus and species, was found on the lichen Diploschistes diacapsis growing on a gypsaceous soil in central Catalonia, Spain. Ecological information is given. The distinctly verrucose, penicillate, monophialidic conidiogenous cells and the catenate, verrucose, ellipsoidal conidia are illustrated with DIC and SEM graphs and compared with those of Doratomyces nanus.
