Importando trabajadores extranjeros para la agricultura catalana (España): El caso de Unió de Pagesos

Abstract

Resumen: La comunicación que presentamos pretende mostrar las conse-cuencias que el sistema implementado por el sindicato agrícola Unió de Pagesos en Cataluña -por el que se realiza el reclutamiento, importación y suministro de mano de obra extranjera para el campo catalán-produce: un sujeto limitado en el justo goce de sus libertades y el legítimo ejercicio de sus derechos. La política migratoria es la responsable del surgimiento de un sistema tal, cuyo germen está en la relación simbiótica Estado/Sindicato, cuyos intereses -la entrega just in time de la mano de obra y el control social del extranjero-se armonizan en su puesta en práctica. En los alojamientos, infraestructura del sistema, se procura la docilización de los individuos necesaria a su continuo suministro a través de variados disposi-tivos, entre ellos, normativas de alojamiento, supervisión constante y regímenes de visita. Importing foreign workers for catalan agriculture (Spain). The case of the Farmers Union Unió de Pagesos. Abstract: The paper we present aims to show the consequences that the system implemented by the agricultural union Unio de Pagesos to recruit, import and supply foreign labor for Catalonian agriculture provides: a subject that has limited liberties and who is deprived of some of his basic rights. The immigration policy is responsible for the emergency of such a system, whose origin is rooted in the symbiotic relation between the State and the Union. Their interests -on one side the social control of the immigrant and on the other a just in time provision of labor-are harmonized and put into practice through such a system. The accommodation -infrastructure of the system-tends to docilize the workers, something necessary for their continuous supply to the farmers. This docilization is carried on through different means, such as accommodation regulations, constant supervision of their everyday life and visit regimes.
