Abstract

This case report describes a patient that presents to her family nurse practitioner with chief complaint of laryngitis and uncontrolled moderate persistent asthma. During the initial interview, the patient's voice was noted to be hoarse, almost a whisper, and strained. The past 4 months she has been on/off prednisone, nebulized medications, and antibiotics along with maintenance medications. The patient was not in respiratory distress. The patient's history, along with assessment findings, diagnostic testing, differential diagnoses, and management, are thoroughly reviewed as well as pathophysiology of the diagnosis.
