Abstract

Regular concentrations of hard detergents in Israeli domestic wastewater did not affect algal growth in high-rate oxidation ponds. Addition of nonionic hard detergent at concentrations >60 mu g/l decreased algal concentration in the batch culture. Concentrations of detergent >100 mu g/l had a severe effect on algal morphology, with complete lysis of the algal cells occurring within a few days. -from Selected Water Resources Abstracts
