Abstract

The use of organophosphate insecticides in the United Kingdom is increasing and many agricultural workers are at risk from accidental poisoning. The features of acute poisoning are well recognized. Although bradycardia is seen in acute poisoning, chronic heart block has not been described before. A case is now reported of complete heart block following exposure to an organophosphate insecticide. Implantation of a permanent pacemaker was followed by repeated problems with exit block.
