Abstract
Traditional methods of treating depression are limited by geographical constraints, uneven resource distribution, and low patient compliance. Digital exercise medicine offers innovative solutions for depression treatment by integrating technologies such as video conferencing, mobile apps, wearable devices, and Internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT). Aerobic exercises like running and cycling, along with strength training and other diverse activities, combined with personalized exercise plans, can significantly improve depressive symptoms. Digital tools, through real-time data monitoring and feedback, enhance treatment adherence and overcome time and space limitations, benefiting adolescents, the elderly, and patients with specific conditions. However, challenges include technical adaptability, data privacy risks, insufficient evidence of long-term efficacy, and a lack of personalized plans. Future efforts should focus on enhancing technology friendliness, strengthening long-term follow-up studies, exploring multi-modal data-driven precision interventions, and promoting the clinical translation and widespread application of digital exercise medicine through interdisciplinary collaboration.
