Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a major cause of infections worldwide, can be detected by flow cytometry with the LIVE/DEAD BacLight stain. We also discuss current and future uses of other diagnostic test methodologies, such as fluorescent microscopy, fluorescent spectrophotometry, and flow cytometry.
